source suite.

is completely free and compatible with Windows Office and contains a word
processor, spreadsheet, drawing program and a presentation program:

Elanware offers EarthWatch, a
neat free program
that shows all the time zones in the world and has day-night simulation.
It's esthetically pleasing too (see screenshot).

Monitor earth quakes and volcano eruptions in Indonesia and around the world.
Watch the course of icebergs. It's a great geography learning tool.

is a trial version (free). The full program cost around US$ 20.
